Flying Off in All Directions
Sometimes this is just how I feel. Often when I am pulled by responsibilities to family, friends, community, work, illness, or wanting to play, relax or enjoy nature, I end up in my studio to regain my equilibrium.
This quilt is an expression of how it feels to sometimes not know in which direction to head.
Chairs from my studio and home were the inspiration for this quilt. I pieced the chairs but also included photos of chairs transferred to fabric for added interest.
The quilt is made from cotton cloth and cotton batting. It is machine pieced and machine quilted.
The Good Food Store
When the Crown Market in West Hartford threatened to close at the end of February, 2014, I felt that it was the end of an era. It had been part of our family and friends’ history. Shopping at the Crown on Sunday mornings had become a tradition, and we were very sad to think of it leaving. I started this quilt to remind me of those good times and food that we shared. Now it seems that “The Good Food Store” has been saved by area business leaders, but I have my memory quilt just in case.
