Road to Brodgar

In the Orkney Islands, in the ocean, north of Scotland, stands a circle of neolithic stones called The Ring of Brodgar. There is a road that goes from this stone circle to Stones of Steness, another ring of megaliths, about a mile distant. Archeologists have found that this road and these circles are part of an enormous ritual complex built by ancient peoples between 2500 BC and 2000 BC.
Standing on this road, in a natural amphitheater of low hills, the mystical quality of the geography brought a connection with the ancient Orcadians, their astronomy, their rituals and their sacred stones.
